A UV printer can suddenly stop working normally even when the print job started without any obvious problem.
You may see ink dripping from one printhead, one color dropping out, the carriage crashing into the right side, or the carriage board failing to power on.
These problems look very different, but each one can be checked step by step.
Ink Dripping During Printing
Ink dripping means one printhead releases drops of ink while the machine is printing.
The drops may fall directly onto the material and leave dark spots or stains.
One common cause is negative pressure that is too low.
The negative pressure system helps control ink inside the printhead. If the pressure is too low, ink may flow out instead of staying stable.
Check the negative pressure value and make sure it is within the normal range for your printer.
Also inspect the ink lines for air leaks.
A loose fitting or leaking tube can make the pressure unstable.
One Color Keeps Dropping Out
Ink dropout is different from dripping.
The printer may start normally, but one color becomes weak or disappears during the job.
For example, a blue area may suddenly become purple because cyan stops printing.
Check the negative pressure.
If it is too high, ink may not flow smoothly to the Printer Printhead.
The ink path should also be checked for leaks.
Look at the tubing, connectors, dampers, and other ink-supply parts.
The printhead condition also matters.
If it has not been cleaned for a long time, run a nozzle test and perform the normal cleaning process.
Carriage Crashes Into the Right Side
A UV printer carriage should stop at the correct home position during startup.
If it keeps moving and crashes into the right side, stop the machine.
Possible causes include:
- A faulty position switch
- A damaged encoder sensor
- A carriage board problem
Check the position switch and its connection.
If the switch cannot detect the carriage correctly, replacement may be needed.
The encoder sensor should also be inspected.
If both parts look normal, the carriage board may need further testing or replacement.
A structured Printer Troubleshooting process is useful here because replacing several parts at the same time makes the real cause harder to find.
Negative Pressure Air Pump Is Too Loud
The negative pressure pump normally makes some noise.
A sudden increase in noise may point to a mechanical or airflow problem.
Check whether the pump has become loose.
A loose pump can vibrate against the machine frame and sound much louder than normal.
Tighten its mounting parts and test again.
A blocked filter can also increase the pump load.
Replace the filter if it is clogged.
If the noise remains after these checks, the pump itself may be faulty and may need replacement.
Carriage Board Light Is Off and the Printer Will Not Reset
Another startup problem is when the carriage board light stays off and the carriage cannot return to its home position.
Possible causes include:
- Loose wiring
- A faulty carriage board
- A faulty servo board
- A damaged data cable
Power the machine off and check the cable connections.
Disconnect and reconnect the data cable securely.
If the board still has no power or the carriage cannot reset, test the carriage board, servo board, and data cable one at a time.
These faults can look serious, but many come down to one loose cable, one pressure problem, or one failed component. Small tests and one-by-one checks are much safer than replacing parts at random.
